The advantage of the adaptive fuel injection system we designed is that fuel pressure increases if the injector orifice narrows or becomes clogged, and decreases if the injector orifice enlarges.
In the adaptive fuel injection system we designed, the pressure automatically increases, without commands from the ECU or pressure regulator, if the injector orifice narrows due to dirt or a blockage. In multi orifice injectors, if one or more orifices become clogged, the pressure automatically rises; the obstruction may be dislodged, or failing that the fuel pressure increases, forcing more fuel through the remaining orifices so that the overall fuel flow remains relatively constant.
In the adaptive fuel injection system we designed, the pressure drops automatically, without commands from the ECU or pressure regulator, if the injector orifice enlarges due to corrosion or other factors; this reduces the fuel flow, thereby keeping the flow rate relatively constant.
The adaptive fuel injection system we designed can be applied to gasoline engines, diesel engines, and hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2 ICE).
